Abstract��The sulfur-bearing gear steel for automobiles with total content of oxygen less than 20��10��6 and sulfide inclusion less than class 2.0 was produced through ��ultra high power electric-arc furnace smelt��secondary refining vessel��vacuum degassing��continuous casting�� process by taking a series of measures�� such as spraying carbon powder during EAF tapping�� adjusting de-oxidation process�� calcium treatment at appropriate stage�� reasonable sulfur adjustment process and static stirring before casting. Moreover�� the optimal calcium treatment process for sulfur-bearing gear steel was obtained. The problem of nozzle blocking in continuous casting was solved.
