Abstract��The micrographic method�� micro-hardness method and electronic probe method were adopted to determine the depth of decarburization of rolled and quenched samples of 75Cr1 steel respectively. The measuring values were compared and analyzed. The results showed that�� the value provided by micrographic method was lower��it was 75% of the value tested by electronic probe method. When homogeneous martensite existed in the quenched sample�� the gradient of micro-hardness was intended to more steady with less fluctuation�� beneficial to the decarburization measurement. Electronic probe method directly tested the transition of carbon content from the surface to matrix of the steel sample�� and provided the results more precisely and correctly.
