AbstractAccording to an ultra-high strength martensitic steel the principle and application of the thermal desorption spectroscopy TDSequipment used for the characterization of the diffusible hydrogen in steel were introduced. The results showed that the changing curves of the hydrogen desorption rate with temperature can be obtained by TDS method. The diffusible hydrogen and non-diffusible hydrogen can be accurately distinguished the content of diffusible hydrogen can be accurately measured and the analysis accuracy can reach up to 0.01106. The TDS method can easily characterize the hydrogen diffusivity coefficient and the activation energy of hydrogen trap which can provide a new method for the research of the hydrogen diffusion behaviors and the hydrogen embrittlement mechanism in steel.
