Abstract��The effect of isothermal annealing on the microscopic structure and hardness performance of 2205 steel was studied by the optical microscope��OM���� scanning electron microscope ��SEM���� X-ray diffraction��XRD�� and hardness tester. The results showed that when 2205 steel was annealed at 650 �� for different times�� the hardness of 2205 steel was gradually increased and then reduced to a stable state with the increase of the annealing time. According to the further analysis�� the main reason was directly related to the generation of precipitation R phase in the ferritic phase and the junction of the ferritic phase and austenite phase.
