Abstract:The discussion about the earing ratio and its calculation method is presented. The existing formula of earing ratio has evaluation deficiencies in some cases and new calculation formula is discussed. The traditional formula focuses on the average height of the earing peak and earing valley, while the response to the width and area of earing peak and valley is insufficient. In fact, the phenomenon of earing has a great influence on the utilization rate of materials for deep drawing. Based on actual condition, it focuses on the response of the earing evaluation method to the cutting area and utilization rate of materials for deep drawing. A new discussion about the calculation formula of the earing ratio is presented. Compared with the traditional formula, this new calculation formula of the earing ratio can make up for the deficiencies and form complementary advantages.
