Abstract: The roll cracking phenomenon of 750 MPa high-strength automobile beam steel produced by one company was analyzed by optical microscope (OM) and scanning electron microscope (SEM). The results showed that the adjustment of edge gap of shearing area in slitting shear was not reasonable. There were many burrs and micro-cracks in end face on the side with larger edge gap, which created external conditions for the cracking. During the hot rolling process, the abnormally high temperature of RT2 caused serious mixed crystal of the material. The decrease of toughness was the internal cause for cracking.
