Abstract:The stability of Vickers hardness tester in laboratory was tested and evaluated by means of mathematical statistics. According to the measurement uncertainty of each test, the curve of measurement uncertainty vs time was established. Meanwhile, the use of the uncertainty was effectively evaluated. The results showed that the running of hardness tester was stable, which could meet the testing requirements. However, for the tester with indentation automatic measurement function, the measured value of hardness was often slightly larger than the actual value. It was suggested to check the hardness tester and adjust the errors caused by the hardware to ensure more accurate results.
