Abstract:As one of factors to cause failure of materials, the residual stress has both negative and positive effects on the failure life. At present, new requirements for highquality development have been proposed in China. In the field of material and equipment manufacturing, the residual stress as a technical factor is closely related to the highquality development. This paper aimed to put forward some thoughts and opinions from the sources, advantages and disadvantages, measurement, and control of residual stress for reference. We should pay much attention to the relationship between residual stress and precision to promote the quality upgrade of material and equipment manufacturing.
