Abstract Sidetrack rail after rail made by flash butt welding test in the early stage of fatigue fracture, cracking site in flash butt welding heat-affected area, and the feet in orbit. To identify the reason for using optical, scanning electron microscopy and energy dispersive spectroscopy analysis of the causes of the cracking was found abnormalities, and the sources of gray leaf spot occurred in the area, resulting in early fracture.
