Analysis on Cracking in Forged Bar of Die Steel 4Cr5MoSiV1 |

Abstract The cracks were found on the edges of transverse sample of �v130mm 4Cr5MoSiV1 forged steel bar. Through inspection and analysis, following causes were found: 1) The cracks are caused by uncut pipes; 2) Shrinkage cavity also might appear along edges of the steel bar. The shrinkage cavitys are far away from the center. This is resulted from the temperature differences on the top and bottom surface of the steel bar during heating, and inaccurate riser cutting and nonuniform deformation during forging.
