Abstract The characteristics of remained heat treatment ribbed bars was discussed by chemical test, microstructure analysis, rib peeling strength test and Vickers hardness test. Several recommendations were given for the standard revisionfurther relaxing the chemical composition of Si and Mn content requirements; clearing the requirements of uniformity on hardened layer thickness; giving limit requirements on hardened layer to enhance the yield strength.
