Analysis of defects in 34CrNi3MoV valve block forging |

Abstract The scattered small defects were found in near surface of the 34CrNi3MoV valve block forging. After the ultrasonic testing and magnetic particle macro-examination�� sampling for the metallographic examination was carried out at the area where defects located. The defects locations were observed by the metallographic microscope and scanning electron microscope. The results showed that the defects were mainly formed by crushing the strip-like defects in the steel�� which were caused by the residual bubbles after adsorbing inclusions during the process of melting�� during the forging process.
