Properties of rotating bending fatigue of 55Cr3 spring steel for automotive stabilizer bars at room temperature |

Abstract Inorder to meet the demand of the practical application of automobile stabilizer bar steel,the rotating bending fatigue properties of 55Cr3 spring steel were tested at roomtemperature with axial strain control method,strain cycle ratio was -1 and frequency was 83 Hz,the S-N curves of the sample were obtained. Property of rotating bending fatigue of 55Cr3 spring steel was investigated by observing the fatigue fracture with scanning electron microscope(SEM). The results showed that the 55Cr3 spring steel for automotive stabilizer bars had high purityand good combination of strength andplasticity,and the rotating bending fatigue limit was up to 730MPa. Under high stress,the crack originated from defects such as machining marks and scratches on the surface of the sample,and there were many crack sources.
