Development of High Strength Steel for Automobile Frames by Steckel Mill of KISC

  • Process of developing and producing high strength steel for automobile frames(K610L) by the compact double stands Steckel mill, which owned only by KISC (Kunming Iron and Steel Group Co., Ltd.), was investigated. Reasonable Nb-Ti micro-alloying compositions and optimizing production process were designed. The results show that the K610L has not only high strength, good ductility, excellent cold formability, but also good natural aging performance, which is suitable to the higher requirements of automobile frames for developing heavy duty trucks in the truck manufacture plant.
