Analysis of surface cracks of the weld seamless stainless steel pipe

Combined with the analysis of mechanical properties，chemical composition，corrosion properties，cracks expanding morphology at the weld joint，optical microstructure （OM），oxides morphologies and microstructure chemical composition，the surface cracks found around the 06Cr18Ni11Ti seamless stainless steel pipe weld joint were systematically studied. It was found that the 06Cr18Ni11Ti pipes had qualified chemical composition and excellent properties. The distance between the crack and the heat affected zone outside border was about 2 mm. The cracks around the weld seamless pipes weld joint were typical fold defects，which were caused by the surface impurities formed during pipes hot working and were not related to the weld processing. Meanwhile，the improvement suggestion was proposed.
