Original position statistic distribution analysis for the large square billet of 82A tire cord steel

Abstract
Original position statistic distribution analysis was performed by metal original position analyzer for the large square billet of 82A tire cord steel. The regularities of the component distribution have been investigated for C,Si,Mn,P,S,Al and Ca in different areas of the square billet. Obvious central segregation of C,S, P and Mn with the shape of island has been found and the segregation degree in central area is greater than in the side area. An obvious negative segregation belt appears in the side area of the square billet and the content distribution of Si is more homogenous than other elements. Al mainly existed in the form of inclusion in tire cord steel and the large inclusions mostly belong to a complex inclusion of Al and Ca. The content of Al inclusion in central area is also much more than in the side area. The scanning electron microscope combined with energy spectrum analysis has been used to study the size and composition of the inclusions in different areas. The results obtained from the two methods have a good agreement.
