Progress and propositions of Chinese steelmaking and continuous casting since the new century

  • Since the beginning of the 21st century, the main technical and economical indicators of Chinese steelmaking-continuous casting technology have made considerable progress under the support of a series of measures. The structures of steelmaking mills and steelmaking-hot rolling production system structure was further optimized. Production technology policy focusing on continuous casting obtained a new connotation, which led to the development of clean steel production with high efficiency and low cost. The development and application of a number of steelmaking processes and equipment technologies have become a new highlight. Technology progresses have been made on recycling processing of slag and iron-bearing dust. On this basis, the core of the new propostition of future technology progress should be “building a high-efficiency and low-cost clean steel production system with the core of constant speed/high speed continuous casting, and an energy flow system of efficient conversion and fully utilizing energy.” On this basis, overall optimization integration should be built by means of informatization and intelligentization.
