Effect of ladle lining erosion on lining temperature and temperature drop of molten steel

  • In order to study the influence of ladle lining erosion on the liquid steel temperature drop, a heat transfer calculation model considering the lining erosion was established by using ANSYS finite element software and ParaMesh mesh migration technology. The effect of lining erosion on the lining and molten steel temperature were studied and analyzed. The results showed that the ladle lining erosion had a great influence on the ladle lining temperature. In the next two repair cycles, the temperature difference between the slag line and the wall of the ladle lining internal (the junction of working layer and permanent layer) caused by the ladle lining erosion was about 14-114 K. The ladle lining erosion led to the increase of the outer surface temperature of the cladding, and the increase of the outer heat dissipation of the cladding. At the same time, the lining was eroded and thinned, and the heat storage was reduced. Thus, the ladle lining erosion had a little influence on the liquid steel temperature drop, the maximum temperature drop was no more than 1 K. In the actual production, the influence of the ladle lining erosion on the liquid steel temperature drop can be properly ignored.
