Abstract:In order to recycle the iron resources in converter slag more reasonably, the tests were conducted on converter slag of Lin-fen Steel Limited Company as raw materials. The physicochemical and mineralogical properties of samples were analyzed by semiquantitative spectroscopic analysis, X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscope (SEM) and electron-probe microanalyzer(EPMA), and the mineral phases and characteristics were studied, and the fineness of the ore grinding and the metal distribution ratio was determined by the grinding test. The results show that: the main phases are dicalcium silicate(C2S), tricalcium silicate(C3S) and hydrated lime in the slag; the phases of iron mainly comprised of metallic state (Fe), simplified combination (Fe2O3, Fe3O4, Fe2O3·nH2O and FeCO3 etc), ferrate (2CaO·Fe2O3 etc)and solid solution(MgO·2FeO); the content of the total iron is as high as 23.39% and dispersive in the steel slag; the slag is ground difficultly, and the grinding is processed selectively. The scientific basis would be provided for the subsequent processes and comprehensive utilization of slag.
