Abstract The microbehavior of inclusion inducing crack initiation and propagation in ultrahigh strength steel MA250 for aerospace application under low cyclic fatigue loading was studied by means of SEM original position observation. The characteristics of low cyclic fatigue crack initiation and propagation were obtained. The method for accurately measuring fatigue crack growth rate in MA250 is discussed.
