Study on Pelletizing of Pyrite Cinder with Magnetite |

Abstract Pelletizing of 67% pyrite cinder with 33% magnetite concentrate was experimentally studied. The property of green balls is very bed without grinding, and grinding is the effective means to improve the properties of green balls. In the presence of 1.0% bentonite, and grinding 4 minutes and 10% grinding moisture, and after a balling duration of 10 minutes, the green balls can meet the production requirement. In grate-rotary kiln’s tests, after preheated at 900℃ for 6 minutes and fired at 1220 ℃ for 10 minutes, the pellets can take good physical strength and good chemical composition. Moreover, the volatile rate of sulfur is very high, and the metallurgical performance of pellets is also very good. It was proved that using pyrite cinder with magnetite concentrate, high quality oxidized pellet can be produced as a blast furnace feed. This technology will be provided with significant social value for environmental protection and important economical value for multipurpose utilization of the iron resource in pyrite cinder.
