Analysis on Quality of Advanced Wire Rod for Steel Cord |

Abstract By inspecting the quality of advanced hotrolled wire rod for steel cord, its production quality standard and product process rules are established. Samples which come from the best plants are inspected. The results show that advanced hotrolled wire rod for steel cord has some general characters, for instance, steel is clean and its chemical composition range is strict. Mechanical property is homogeneous and reduction rate of area is high. Microstructure is even and its sorbite rate is more than 80 percent, average layers space between cementite and ferrite is about 0.2 μm.Volume fraction of preeutectoid ferrite is less than 1 percent. Only A and D type inclusions are observed. All D type inclusions are plastic, its grade is less than 0.5 and the size of which isn’t larger than 5 μm. Dimension precision is high. There is no central segregation or decarburization and defects on the surface.
