Abstract Based on the cause of gauge oversizing of plate head,the traditional head gauge compensation methods were analyzed. A new gauge control method for plate head was developed.For the plates of different steel grade and different dimensions,the plasticity coefficient is calculated, and gauge compensation for plate head is automatically adjusted.Adopting the exponential compensation curve,the gauge deviation is allowable after cropping, and metal yield can be improved.
