Abstract The inclusion and gas content in molten steel and slabs of J55 steel grade for oil casings were researched with two processes: LDRHLFCC and LDLFCC respectively to study the effect of inclusion and gas content on mechanical properties of final products. The experimental results show that inclusion content in molten steel and slabs and quality of final products produced by two refining processes are at the same level. Thus the production cost can be cut down by adopting LDLFCC.The results offer theoretical basis for process design of new steel grades.
