Abstract Theoretical combustion temperature (TCT) is considered as one of the important parameters used to characterize the thermal state of hearth (TSH). With change of operation conditions, especially,with rise of PCI, the results of calculated TCT by existing models are not satisfactory. Some factors to be considered are presented. Firstly,the residues after combustion of fuel and unburnt pulverized coal besides the gas should be included in the adiabatic system of raceway. Secondly,the specific heat capacity of all substances should be the function of temperature. At last, the combustion temperature of coke should not be a constant,but calculated with the thermal balance in the high temperature zone of BF.The effect of above mentioned factors on the calculated value of TCT is studied.
