Analytical Model for Cross-sectional Area of Workpiece in Round-oval-round Pass Sequence in Bar Rolling |

Abstract The cross-sectional areas of workpiece for GCr15 bearing steel in round-oval-round pass sequence have been investigated according to the industrial data from a hot bar rolling mill. The correction coefficient of spread in groove in the cross-sectional area model has been optimized by adopting the influence factor of rolling speed on spread. Deviations between the calculated pass elongation rates using the optimized analytical model and the actual values are less than ±3% which indicates the modified model can be used as a meaningful reference for the roll pass design and process control of hot bar rolling production of GCr15 bearing steel.
