Simulation Analysis on Formation of Bore Hexagonal Shape of Seamless Tube in Stretch Reducing Rolling Process |

Abstract Based on the deformation characteristics of seamless tube during stretch reduction,a 3D thermomechanical coupled finite element model was established to simulate the deformation process of tube on 18stand stretch reducing mill. The comparison of finite element analysis results with measured ones indicated that the simulation model is practical and reliable. It was found that the transverse wall thickness distribution is nonuniform and that is the cause of hexagonal bore formation. The model can be used to analyse product flaws and instruct technological design.
