| Analysis of Silicon Increase in Molten Steel during LF Refining Process for SPHC |

Abstract The control of silicon is a big difficult point of composition control for SPHC steel in CSP process. Based on the production data from a certain domestic factory, the thermodynamical software Factsage was used to analyze the influence of [Al]s on silicon content in molten steel during LF refining process which was the most serious process for silicon increase. The results showed that the reaction between steel melt and top slag was far from the equilibrium, and the tendency for silicon increase was always strong in the whole process and showed that it was the major reason for serious increment of silicon content during LF refining process that the amount of aluminum addition for deoxidation was excessive, meanwhile, the high oxidizability of top slag also increase the consumption of [Al]s in molten steel.
