Abstract Based on the ironflow diagram of steel production process, the iron utilization efficiency of different steel production processes, ie. BFBOF process, EAF process and mix process, is analyzed. The iron utilization efficiency of steel production process is determined by recovery rate of iron. It is evident, that the higher rate of iron recovery, the higher the iron utilization efficiency is. The influence of EAF steel ratio on iron utilization efficiency of mix process is discussed. The higher EAF steel ratio, the higher the iron utilization efficiency of mix process is. Based on the data of steel industries in China, USA and Japan, the relationship of EAF/steel ratio and iron utilization efficiency is analyzed.
