Finite Element Simulation of Transverse Compressive Stress Distribution in Strip During Continuous Annealing Process |

Abstract ABSTRACT:In this paper, strip pass technique on continuous annealing/hot galvanizing line (CAL/CGL) was systemic studied by using the finite element analysis software (ANSYS). In this paper, it put forward the mechanism of transverse compressive stress, dedicated the origin of “centripetal force” and the probability to trigger strip buckling with the variability of correlative roll factors. The results from finite element model revealed the influence of strip tension, roll crown, roll flat part on the transverse compressive stress during the strip conveying. Furthermore, Conclusions obtained from simulations provide academic guidance for roll design and selection in practice, which will have a better control of misguiding and buckling, can solve practical problems in production.
