Effect of Finishing Rolling Temperature on Strength and Toughness of Spring Steel 60Si2CrVAT |

Abstract By using controlled rolling and cooling, optical and electron microscopy observation, mechanical test etc, the microstructure of hotrolled 60Si2CrVAT rolled with different finishing rolling temperature, and the effect of hot rolled structure on the microstructure and properties of heat treated products were studied. The results show that, the improvement in properties through heat treatment is based on homogenized and superfine microstructure of hotrolled products.With the decrease of finishing rolling temperature, the grain size is refined apparently and the contents of sorbite is increased. Comparing the bars rolled with a finishing rolling temperature of 970 ℃ the bars rolled with a finishing rolling temperature of 890 ℃ are better in terms of mechanical properties,namely, the tensile strength is increased by 190 MPa, the yield strength by 200 MPa, the elongation by 1.8%, the reduction of area by 3.9%, and toughness by 4 J/cm2.
