Abstract The crystallization reaction of amorphous BF slag was studied by DSC at different heating rate. Based on the dynamic DSC curves, the apparent activation energy, reaction orders and the preexponential factor for kinetic equation of the reaction were calculated, and the kinetic equation of the crystallization reaction of amorphous BF slag was derived finally. For the test slag, the apparent activation energy was 376.466 kJ/mol and the reaction order was 1. The DSC curves show that exothermic peaks were between 11301310 K.The peak temperature, crystallization temperature and reaction order were increased with the heating rate.A mathematic model was established to describe the crystallization reaction of amorphous BF slag.
