Abstract The multifluid blast furnace model was developed on basis of multifluid theory, thermodynamics and kinetics, transport theory and computational fluid dynamics. The framework, discretizing method, settingup of boundary conditions, and solution procedure of the model are introduced.The multifluid model was used to simulate a given blast furnace, giving twodimensional distribution of temperature and velocity, and the accuracy and efficiency of the model were testified by comparing simulation results with measured data. Generally, multifluid model is a useful tool to simulate blast furnace operation, describe the process, and predict the performance of blast furnace.
