Abstract Considering the requirement for cooling of primary gas from final reduction vessel and efficiency of prereduction in twostep smelting reduction ironmaking process like Corex, the advantages of the hydrogenenriching reform of primary gas and prereduction with hydrogenenriched reduction gas are analyzed. The disadvantages and countermeasures are discussed.The hydrogen enriching reform of the primary gas for prereduction is feasible.
