Effect of Pulverized Coal Injection on the Theoretical Flame Temperature Before Tuyere in COREX Melter-Gasifier |

Abstract The theoretical flame temperature (TFT) before tuyere in COREX melter-gasifier was one of the most important parameters to measure the heat balance of the area before tuyere and predict the thermal state of the hearth. Based on the calculating formula of TFT with regard to the reduction of SiO2, the effect of pulverized coal injection (PCI) into melter-gasifier on TFT before tuyere was discussed. TFT before tuyere in melter-gasifier under different PCI conditions was calculated. Afterwards, the effects of PCI rate, volatile matter content and the temperature of coke (semicoke) entering the combustion zone were all discussed, which provided necessary references for choosing proper coal types for PCI into COREX melter-gasifier.
