Abstract

Abstract:To study the effect of iron ore powder on the volumetric swelling and shrinkage behavior of iron coke during carbonization, the Image Pro Plus software, high temperature hot stage microscope, scanning electron microscope (SEM) and Xray diffractometer (XRD) were used to reveal the volume, microstructure and mineral composition of iron coke with different amounts of iron ore powders. The results show that the shrinkage degree of iron coke gradually reduces with increasing the amount of iron ore powder addition. In the case of a same amount of iron ore addition, the volumetric evolution of iron coke has little relationship with the iron ore type during carbonization. All ironcontaining minerals in the iron coke were reduced from Fe2O3 to Fe during the carbonization process, but the distribution of minerals in iron coke varied with the initial iron ore powder type.
