Effect of BaO and TiO2 Content in Molten Slag on Nitrogen Content in Liquid Steel

Abstract

In the order to study the effect of the BaO and TiO2 content in molten slag on nitrogen content in liquid steel, the basic slag system of CaOSiO2Al2O3 is chosen as basic component; BaO and TiO2 were added to the basic slag system of CaOSiO2Al2O3 in order to observe effect of nitrogen removal from the liquid steel. The experimental results show that addition of BaO and TiO2 to the slag can promote removal of nitrogen, and the nitrogen content of molten steel decreases linearly with increasing BaO and TiO2 contents in the slag.
