Abstract

Sticking behavior of iron ore pellets containing carbon in reduction was investigated through the load reduction experiment, at temperatures of 1173, 1273 and 1373K, load of 0. 1MPa, and N2 flow rate with 1. 0L/min, and the sticking critical state was clearly defined, while the test method of sticking index(SI) was improved. The experiment has shown that the pellet sticking phenomenon appears in the reduction process, the temperature is an important factor affecting the sticking, and sticking becomes more severe with the temperature. The SI is 88. 7% of the pellets at 1373K. SI can objectively reflect the sticking situation of the pellets during the reduction process. Pellets′sticking is caused by the iron and ferrous oxide crystals′ growth out of bounds, when temperature rises, the probability of growth out of bounds becomes larger, so that pellets sticking became serious.
