Experimental study on improvement of center carbon segregation in 55SiCr spring steel billet

Abstract:For serious center segregation of spring steel billet with section of 160 mm×160 mm, industrial trials were carried out in consideration of formation mechanism of center carbon segregation in billet and the effect of operating parameters in continuous casting on center carbon segregation. Combined with solidification principle and experimental result, reasonable operating parameters in continuous casting for 55SiCr spring steel billet were determined, which provided a theoretical and practical basis for improving macrostructure and center carbon segregation of 55SiCr spring steel billet.
