Improvement and control of edge skin-warping defects in ultra-low carbon IF steel

Abstract:In order to solve the quality problems in hot or cold rolled strip production, the surface defects of hot rolled strip of IF steel were analyzed by means of metallographic microscope, SEM and EDS, and the causes and mechanisms of the typical quality defects in slab and strip were determined. The coupling relationship between the key parameters of continuous casting process and the heating system of reheating furnace and the surface warping defects were studied, and the control measures to reduce the incidence of surface warping defects were put forward. Through the industrial test, the metallurgical defects of the continuous annealing process of the test casting billet were reduced by 1.43%, the reduction rate was 26.63%, and the extent of reduction was 1.11% and 43.70%.
