Parameter Optimization of Mould Electromagnetic Stirring in Xingtai Iron and Steel Company

Abstract:Experiments were made in small billet continuous caster of Xingtai Iron and Steel Company, the optimum parameters of domestic mould electromagnetic stirring apparatus were researched systematically and the effects on the carbon segregation of continuous casting billet of different parameters were analyzed as well. The results showed that carbon segregation of continuous casting billet could be reduced by mould electromagnetic stirring. The minimum electric current is about 350 A to improve billet center carbon segregation. But the improvement was not very remarkable by increasing electric current when the current reached a certain value.
