Characteristic of Fluid Flow in Four-Strand Tundish

Abstract:The fluid flow of four-strand tundish under various control devices was studied by water model experiments. The results show that high rate of flow fluid makes a large difference between the edge outlet and the middle outlet, and has high dead volume fraction. The improved tundish makes the characteristic of flow of fluid convergent, the gap of residence time between different outlets is reduced to 1 or 2 seconds, the residence time is increased by an average 145.9 s, and the dead volume fraction is decreased by an average 17.2%.
