Optimization and Improvement of T Flow Control Device in Tundish for FTSC Thin Slab Continuous Casting of Tongsteel

Abstract:The forms, geometry size and position of flow control device in tounish for FTSC (Flexible Thin Slab Caster) thin slab continuous casting of Tong steel are being optimized and improved by means of the water model experiment. The flow control device in tundish has been optimized from the previous single combination of the turbulence controller and the wall to the combination of the turbulence controller, dam and wall. The production practice showed that steel flow characteristics had been improved significantly and inclusion gross reduced by 50% above, globular and inclusion of large particle grade had been significantly reduced, and tundish metallurgy played an important role.
