Process Optimization on Slab Soft Reduction for Bloom-Slab Caster

Abstract:Take the bloom-slab caster in Xiangtan Iron and Steel Co., as an example, a numerical model was developed for the simulation of solidified thickness curve based on the solidified shell test. The result of the simulation was compared with the caster’s, pointing out the deviation between the final solidification, and the optimized parameters was put forward during the soft reduction process. The process parameter optimization obviously improved the center quality of billet, and the result also showed that the process optimization scenario was proved to be accurate and reliable.
