Abstract:Abstract:Defect of SS400B plate edge with 45mm in thickness was tested and analyzed by macroscopic observation, metallography, SEM(Scanning Electron Microscope) and EDS(Energy Dispersive Spectrometer).The results showed that there were oxidation, decarburization and non-metallic inclusions near the defect, and some bubbles remained in the matrix after rolling, which indicated that the bubbles on the continuous casting slab surface and pinholes were the main cause of the defect on plate’s edge.
