Abstract:Development and application for chamfering-mold has been carried out in order to control the corner transverse crack defect of continuous casting slab effectively and steadily and the satisfactory effect has been acquired. By means of ANSYS FEM software, taking 250mm×2000mm continuous casting slab as object, the temperature field of chamfering-mould of different dimensions, thermal stress field of right-angle-mold and 35mm×35mm chamfering-mold have been calculated. The calculation results show that the lowest temperature of chamfered part reached 918℃ when the chamfer dimension is 35mm×35mm, the minimum temperature of the corner from high temperature tensile curve of the high temperature side is gradually separated from the brittle zone; comparing with rectangular-slab, the chamfering-slab corner stress concentration is completely eliminated. So if the chamfering-mold used the maximum z stress of slab is reduced by 19.2%, transverse corner crack occurrence possibility will be greatly reduced.
