Abstract:Because of inadequate cold strength, casting powder hollow particles are easy to powder partially during storage, transport and usage process, which impacts the continuous casting production. Using scanning electron microscopy and slag particle strength tester, the microstructure and cold strength of fluxes with various particle size distribution were investigated. The results show that the fluxes with size of 0.3-0.6 mm have higher cold strength than others. Increasing the proportion of fluxes with size of 0.3-0.6 mm can effectively prevent powdering during storage and transport. It has certain guiding significance for the manufacture and application of casting powder.
