Abstract:The flow field of molten steel in tundish was studied by numerical simulation method. The influence of dam height, weir insert depth and their space on tundish flow field and RTD curve were studied by using orthogonal experiment in this paper. The impact of each ingredient on volume fraction of plug flow region and optimal combination of flow control devices were obtained, and optimization scheme of flow control devices was proposed for factory. The volume fraction of plug flow region after optimization is increased from 62.23% to 70.75%, and the volume fraction of dead region is decreased from 7.11% to 5.75%, thus metallurgical function of the tundish is improved greatly.
