Abstract:Effect of roll type S-EMS frequency on quality of slabs was investigated. Stirring frequencies chosen in this experiment respectively were 5,6,7,8 and 9 Hz. Experimental results showed that the central equiaxed zone ratios of the slabs were increased with EMS frequency from 5 Hz to 8 Hz and the same other technological parameters. The central equiaxed zone ratios of the slabs were decreased with EMS frequency from 8 Hz to 9 Hz. When EMS frequency was 8 Hz,the central equiaxed zone ratios was maximized,and the central porosity and the central segregation were respectively controlled at level 0.5 and below C1.5, so the compactness and homogeneity of the solidification structure of the slab were enhanced. The electromagnetic force didn’t change monotonously with the change of frequency in the S-EMS of the slab. It had a maximum value. The location of the best frequency was related with slab thickness, molten steel conductivity, liquid core size , stirrer parameters etc.
