Abstract:Oscillation mark depth and morphology of 430 ferritic stainless steel slabs were observed by optical microscopy. The results show that the metallographic method can achieve high accuracy to measure the oscillation mark depth. The oscillation marks in the edge of 430 slabs are deep and disorder, while the oscillation marks of central is more evenly distributed and shallow. On the upper surface, the average depth of edge oscillation marks and central oscillation marks is 320.847 6 μm and 247.886 μm. On the lower surface, the average depth of edge oscillation marks and central oscillation marks is 301.753 μm and 221.753 6 μm.The micro cracks and segregation are existed at the bottom of the oscillation marks. The oscillation mark depth of 430 slabs is reduced by optimizing the processing parameters of vibration frequency, vibration amplitude, flux viscosity, etc.
